It’s hard to believe that in such a short time, Glee has been nominated for and has won so many awards!  Here’s a quick list of the series achievements to date. (excluding nominations)

For a show thats been on our screens for a under a year, it has achieved a HUGE amount!

Glee may have become a phonomenon in Europe and America alike, but like many a Series, it has started to receive its first bout of negative publicity.

An article published in The Irish Times on the 12th of february (Glee: The anti-Christian arguement) focuses in on the criticism Glee is receiving for its scandalous storylines.

The United States Parents Television Council claim that the show is unsafe for teenage viewing, containing sexually charged storylines. One particular episode, Showmance, really got their goat, and it seems that they are looking for any possible way to downgrade the popular teenage series.

Time Magazine’s Nancy Gibbs told readers of how a certain Christian Minister is labelling Glee as ‘Anti-Christian’. This minister believes that Glee ‘portrays Christians as phonies and hypocrites’.

“The students lie, they cheat, they steal, they lust…Nearly all the Ten Commandments get violated at one point or another, while the audience is invited to laugh at people’s pain and folly and humiliation”

Don’t you think that is going a little too far?

The said Christian Minister must not have stopped to think about the many shows that are now available for teens to watch, like The Hills and Gossip Girl. Look at Gossip Girl for instance. Gossip Girl is a show enjoyed by millions of teens all over the globe, and contains drugs, sex, lies and lust. Jenny Humphrey, perfect teen beauty queen/drug dealer. Serena Van Der Woodsen, member of Manhattan’s elite/mistress.

Then we look at Glee. Yes, maybe the fact that Mr.Schuester is straying from his wife, and yes, maybe the head of the Celibacy Club is pregnant, but we don’t see the level of maturity that we see in Gossip Girl. Glee’s heavy storylines are lightened by its catchy songs and happy-go-lucky mood throughout. Its sensitive teenage issues are dealt with in a way that would make the most apprehensive teenager learn to deal. (For example, Kurt coming out to his parents)

A show that can be enjoyed by the whole family has finally been brought to our television screens and people are still unhappy. In my opinion, there are much worse things on TV right now that are potentially ‘anti-christian’ and it’s very rare that we hear people complaining!

This is just a very quick post reminding you all about the upcoming auditions for season 2 and updating you with new information!

So I’ve just had a look at a few different sites and there has been some new information released.

1. Fox are definitely looking for THREE new additions to Glee Club for season 2. I’m unsure yet of whether these roles will be permanent or temporary.

2.You can sign up NOW to receive an email telling you more about the upcoming casting call. If you are seriously considering auditioning, you should really sign up for this, as you will be the first to know when you can submit your videos.

So thats pretty much all the new information I have found! I know its not much but I want to make sure that you know first, seeing as my last post received a few comments concerning auditioning.

Being in a mood where I would have welcomed ANYTHING to do instead I jumped at the suggestion from my friend to check out Fox’s new TV series, Glee… A week on and I can only describe the relationship between myself and the show as almost a clinical addiction.

The main story of the fresh musical comedy is not by any means original but promises to offer a new spin on stories we’ve seen in shows such as High School Musical to which it’s been compared and keep you smiling throughout the series. It’s definitely easy to see how creators Ryan Murphy (Popular and Nip/Tuck), Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan have tried to use the “high school” theme to reach a wide range of audiences by revolving the subplots around the personal and school life of Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) who plays loving husband to somewhat controlling wife Teri (Jessalyn Gilsig) and head of McKinley High’s Glee Club to which he intends to restore the glory of his Glee Club years. Though with the beginning line-up, it seems that he doesn’t seem to have much hope.

Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) is the ambitious star, surrounded by the diverse coalition of the typically “unpopular kids”: Kurt (Chris Colfer), wearing the world-weary humor known to gay boys everywhere; Mercedes (Amber Riley), determined to be Beyonce; Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), a skater-punk Asian girl with a stutter; and Artie (Kevin McHale), the geeky wheelchair-bound jazz guitarist.

The stories that unravel throughout the series unfold events which we are familiar with but have spins on them that definitely leave you guessing and eagerly waiting for the next helping. The enrolment of the newest members of the Glee Club, Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) and friends gives rise to plots ranging from needs to balance dreams and expectations, high school romances and tough decisions to teenage pregnancies. Meanwhile the adults seem to have their own relationship problems and work commitments. In fact it may even be possible to say that the adult life somewhat mirrors the “Glee Club life”.

All in all I think that with its all star all-singing all-dancing cast, upbeat and up to date numbers from artists such as Duffy, Rihanna and Kanye West, unexpected twists in plots and general ‘smile factor’ it is fair to say that Glee succeeds in “establishing a cheerful and unique place that audiences will visit week after week.”

(Just to point out, in my second posting of the quotes, I accidentally put the same quote twice, but that has not affected the results since anyone who did comment on the first post didn’t get them all right )

Hey wildcats…ok, ok, glee… (We need a mascot…ideas anyone?)

The reason I linked the Disney mega flop…I mean mega amazing film HIGHSCHOOL MUSICAL, was because…

Drum roll please….(imagine it, its way more effective, and I won’t seem so uncool)

My love triangle today is….WILL, EMMA AND TERRI!!!

The reason for this is because, as I bopped along to “We’re all in this together” a Highschool Musical Song (for those of you who don’t know…) at work…(it was play morning by the way, that’s why the song was on…I don’t have it on cd…ok I do but that’s not the point!) I came to the realisation that well…Will, Emma, and Terri are basically older, differently colored, versions of the Wildcats…

I had this strange vision that, the Will love triangle was an odd insight to what it would look like if Troy had married Sharpay instead of Gabrialleurgghh…does anyone feel like this because…I mean the freaky similarities are there for us to see!

Will…is cute; Troy is too in a less masculine kind of way. Oh and they both love to sing!

Emma is the geeky yet loved by all type of girl, Gabriella, she’s the same, and the male lead on Glee (Will) can’t help fall for her (just like Troy did).

Then there is the queen bee…once upon a time, Terri, blonde perky and gets what she wants, just like SHARPAY!!! Yes that’s right! All those times the producers of Glee claimed Highschool Musical bared no similarities, the evidence is right there.

But I have to say, Highschool musical has nothing compared to the comedy and musical in one Glee…put it to a vote, if the cast of HSM had a club brawl (is that an English word…ok Fisty fight) with the cast of Glee…who would win??? Now I would pay for a show like that!

Lets direct ourselves to the much needed to be discussed love triangle…I’m a little saddened by the way the show was left…yes it succeeded in making me scream at the TV screen, begging it to see me as someone more special and show me a sneak preview of what’s to come… (If you’re wondering whether my prayers were answered…then go to church…)

As much as I love Emma, the ever so adorable woman, I keep thinking of Epic Movie when I want to refer to her…I still feel like…she…well…she’s a bit of a cow really, because she broke Kens heart…I know, I know, she didn’t end it with him…but the poor guy had a lot to put up with, which he did…her postponing the wedding was a little bit of a give away that she thought he was dispensable…Lets ask for a male opinion here…

How many of you men out there, don’t mind putting off a wedding (YOUR WEDDING) so that your bride to be, can take the man of her dreams glee club to sectionals?

If you said yes then…well…maybe I’m being a dramatic girly girl?

Will loved Terri…didn’t he? Or am I being completely clueless…

Was Will and Terri’s love ever real? Comments, comments, comments!!!

Something that’s got me wondering is…Do you think it would be funny to see Terri and Ken, try and get back at Emma and Will…??? I think that it would make for some very interesting and a little cringe worthy television!!!

I gotta same, sometimes I find myself feeling more sorry for the baddies in movies/shows than the people I should be feeling sorry for, I think its more because I always believe bad people are bad for a reason, whether its down to their parents, or society…this is heading towards human rights and stuff deeper than this blog is suppose to be, but let me know if you feel that way too…it’s only human of us right…

I mean Terri, did she lie about her pregnancy because she was selfish? Or do you think her reason was valid and that you would do it too if you were in the same situation? Right or wrong, Terri did what she did out of fear and love…you cant condemn someone for acting out of passion…Haah, I should be a philosopher, though if I did that I think I’d actually have to make sense! People, people! We need your opinions…it’s a free world!

So…verdict…

I’m a Will and Emma ship…but also a Ken and Terri!!! Post us your comments and we’ll chat about it…
